it's honestly more impressive than Moubu's. his died after being trolled by Chousou and breaking through a wall full of Zhao scrubs. Bajio's was run ragged from the beginning of the day (not to even mention the overall food shortage the whole army had and tough fighting everyday while Moubu's didn't even face consistent action), engaging Goba's army, helping Yotanwa escape into the night, breaking out of an encirclement and going for the attack helicopter, and searching everywhere for Yotanwa while breaking through every obstacle hurled at Bajio. and these men that Bajio and his horse had to face were Quanrong, stronger than the savage mountain tribes Bajio and Yotanwa hail from and the horses could be traced to the ones Gekishin used for his poison dogs. plus Bajio's horse isn't even from the best horses in Yotanwa's army.

it's an insult to its memory to say Moubu's was better

Wonder if red hare will be able to live up to its reputation if it's alive in the same era as these legendary figures

I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned in GP's comment on the chapter.

I meant when GP posted in the chapter thread. He didn't mention the steed.

Bajio had a great horse that is deserving of the praise, in terms of endurance this horse ranks very high up there.

I think in that image you can tell that Bajio's horse should basically have already been dead, life fleeting from its body. That horse was no longer kept alive by a heartbeat, but by the sheer willpower to complete its mission. Once it saw that it had reached Yotanwa and she was alive and well, the horse knew its job was done and allowed itself to finally yield after one last triumphant stand on the boulder. Also, I believe the horse may have recognized that the only escape path was through the thicket and that he would only slow Bajio and Yotanwa down if he stayed with them, which is why he stopped fighting and allowed himself to die so that they would have a chance to see sunrise.

You shouldn't be underselling Moubu's horse. It's true that the Quanrong are stronger infantry than Zhao, but Bajio hasn't been the main target of the Zhao army here, that would be Yotanwa. Moubu got sent through a grueling endurance run designed to kill Ouki where all of the ambushes traps and arrows were all aimed at him first and foremost and despite that his horse still caught up to the Houken body double who was fleeing the whole time without the luxury of taking any attacks itself. It's one thing to catch up to someone and its another to do it while triggering booby traps and people shooting at you every few steps. It was bad enough that an endurance beast like Moubu who can paste Quanrong all day long was feeling worn and exhausted but he and his horse still pulled a second wind and broke out of there.

Also, you didn't even mention the incredible performance of his Coalition War horse who has arguably the most impressive display in sheer fortitude.

who cares if he's the main target or not, just the whole night phase of his horse's work easily puts it above Moubu's Bayou horse run

and lol grueling, the horse pretty much made it through the rocks unscathed along with Moubu, so it's not like it had to tank any attacks nor pull Akakin/Shunmen style evades. the only things it had to tank as Chousou's later trolling, which makes it look bad rather than good. plus Bajio's horse's second wind is way more impressive considering what it went through.

not gonna mention that one cuz the circumstances are different and the Bayou one is more comparable. are you honestly feeling that Moubu's rep is being threatened here so you have to wank his horse too?

iirc, Red Hare is just fast and chooses its own master. they didn't look too much impressive in the Ravages of Time either, though the Xia Pi breakout could be a solid feat

but if the Sangoku era was represented in Kingdom style, the three homos duel with Lu Bu would probably put it above Moubu's CW horse in tanking, since Zhang Fei and Guan Yu are pretty much two Kanmeis
