    Shop/Token/ ITA mechanic in Mafia Games

    I remember this feature way back in one of my favourite games on here, and the shop was an awesome way for people to buy temporary abilities in a game thread by spending tokens they acquired passively or by doing in game events. There was also something called ITAs that are explained pretty well in this thread here

    We should try to bring the shop mechanic back in one of the games, its a pretty nifty and refreshing mechanic to have but it does look pretty complicated to set up

    Think I've seen this implemented in other forum games in the past where they buy weapons and shit with money earned in various ways

    wouldn't mind seeing it again

    The shop is awesome to have if youre hosting something like a role madness game. Its like if you wanted an abiliy that you didnt get in your role pm, you might have just been able to buy it in the shop. ITAs where pretty fun too

    There could also be interesting rples in connection to this, ie a peeker who could pick a few people to find out what they bought

    As a host I usually find a store/currency mechanic too annoying to implement and balance, I think it's a feature I'd like to see every once in a while in an appropriate theme.

    Also rng based mechanics I try to minimize as well

    Balancing is difficult for this type of game. I remember Tom's AIDs game and it was beautiful and then I tried to host a similar game and it was a bit messier.

    ye i agree. events/ita's are too swingy to have in any game with a player list of like under 20, probably even into the 20s. shop mechanic probably depends on how it's implemented but player list size would still be restricting

    True but theyre swingy for both sides, I remember when half the scum team got wiped out to them in toms game only for the scum to pull it back by watching the town constantly shoot themselves in the foot with it later on. I remember just buying out the protection items every phase whenI was scum and then just watching the fireworks go off. But I probably agree that mechanics like these are only well suited to very large games, since they essentially just speed the game up and make sure they dont drag out for too long. Theyre something to consider though if you ever do find yourself hosting a 26-30 role madness game
