Kinda glad Souma isn't going to be the "main challenger" here.
I agree with you but I’m skeptical about Erina being the head chef, the author loves her too much and I don’t see him doing justice to Erina’s dish when it comes to the explanation, we’ll likely get a description of the dish and Erina would just win which will leave a pretty bad memory for the Regiment de Cuisine in my opinion.

I get the feeling that if Erina wins it there will be a semester where everybody is challenged and Souma finishes it off by challenging and beating Erina. At least that's how I'd do it from this point.

    I can see that happening.

But I don’t see him surpassing her until the 3rd year tbh.

I was wondering if they were going to try some sort of time skip so everybody can be at different positions suddenly and without having to explain too much.

If the author really is rushing to finish that is probably what is going to happen:

I almost hope so. Though what I really hope is if the author does do a time skip they correct course to present more varied challenges and not just straight up "power level" the characters. Like it would be interesting to see Souma doing a jaunt across the country to fix a chef block he has going on or something.

I feel like the author is trying to end. Im curious what brought up Rindou's design, she looks like an Ikeda Akihisa character.

I hope not unless they time skip into their 2nd years then I'll be fine with it.

Eh wouldn't that be similar to Joi's dilemma though?

I'm thinking almost into their third years. Give them a "year off" from development so their skills are more in line with the timeframe considering who they have been competing with.

    That’s true.

It really was too soon for them to be facing the Elite Ten.

Would've been better if they'd been handed a whomping, forcing them to transfer to another school, and then rechallenging them later on.

    I agree.
Because of the route taken it just leaves the other first years behind when some of them were the more interesting ones.
