Thread: College...

    College...

I'm just now thinking of going to college once the summer of this year is over. I was discussing evolutionary biology with WILD on Discord the other day, and he said I knew a lot more in depth stuff about this than he did, and WILD's a smart guy. He suggested I get a degree of some kind involving Animal Science. I've since thought about it and I'm going to try it now. My brother quit college, but he's younger than me and never had the kind of passion I had for a potential career.

There are some obstacles I want to overcome to achieve my goal though, like my disability and driving (my dad retires this summer though, so he could drive me to college) and what college or classes I should take. Do you guys have any advice when it comes to that?

If you're going to college you shouldn't just be interested in a subject but have an idea of what career you want.

For example, if you wanted to be a Zoo keeper who specializes in Elephants, as a random example, you may not want to go to college and instead pursue certain other specialized education/training other than a university degree, which will save you both time and money and make you more employable in that specific field.

If you want to get a degree in a biology field, either prepare to go to grad school, prepare to be a lab technician, or prepare for not having a job. That's a generalization, but that's a reality if you don't have more clearly defined goals I think.

To be honest, if you want to BE an evolutionary biologist, you're going to need to be a scientist with a PhD, I think. That's at least 8 years of your life. So if that's not for you, you may want to consider a field of study that's related to evolutionary biology instead, or like what I suggested become a type of animal specialist.

Not to be rude or anything, but you tend to put things off when they are unpleasant.
College might be a bitch for you.

But, I wish you the best.

You should be a biologist or something that can find out how our body works so you can make us immortal.
Then when we do that we will have all the time of this world to research everything else.
