The vote swung that way, but as already said: Giants like google etc are suing the FCC already, this is going to be settled in court. It's not finalized.

Biggest thing to take away from this thread.

Lawyers were already lined up and primed to challenge this one head on.

if now it moves to the court, i assume the institutional part is over

so basically net neutrality is lifted until court says otherwise, isn't it

the tl;dr is providers can now choose which sites and individuals to attribute x amount of bandwidth, along with obvious privacy breaches.

They can basically now choose to charge you in order to make certain sites faster, expect things like, for example; 'Streaming premium packages' that speed up popular websites like netflix and youtube for you while leaving others on your normal net (though to note, that 'sped up' section would be as fast as your normal speed now, while your base speed is much lower).

It also enables them to slow competitors sites, unwanted news, etc.

    That's the good thing.
The turnover is frozen until the primary lawsuit that is already in congress is over and done with.

Basically, net neutrality is staying where it is until they sorted this out in court; even if theoretically it wasn't: You wouldn't notice anything short term, not even by the time the court thing is over.

Big-shot companies had their lawyers lined up to stop this shit in their tracks should it come this far.
Now the very dirty slugfest begins.
