Why exactly do Servants hide their true name

    E.g.

Saber Arturia. What’s the harm in letting other know her true name and her Noble Phantasm again?

From what I recalled it was so their power couldn't be planned against and used as a surprise.

Also for those who died of unnatural ways are susceptible to dying that way again more easily.

Can you really plan ahead and build a counter measure against Saber’s Excalibur? It’s a huge AoE blast.

I guess if you know it's her trump card you can plan ways of sealing it or having her waste it.

Iskandar's and Gil's wouldn't matter if you knew or not. But Cu's almost got Saber killed because she didn't know how his Noble Phantasm worked.

    is this really a thread?

obviously with Artoria, she usually has her sword invisible and she loses that "advantage" if they know who she is. iirc, it was a factor in some of her fights because her opponents didn't know the true length of her sword

there's a reason why Iskandar had to babysit Gilles' beast for awhile

Nigga you can’t expect me to believe that Gille’s monstrosity could move out of the way in time for Saber’s Excalibur.

    totally missing the point

she had to charge it first or something iirc, or else they wouldn't have needed Iskandar to distract it first if she could blast it right off the bat
