    Loki's Toriko Reading Log

Time to finally read this. I told myself I was going to read this eventually. I'll give my thoughts every story arc.

    http://toriko.wikia.com/wiki/Story_Arcs

    Rainbow Fruit Arc (Chapter 3-7)

Toriko is a badass and pretty fearless. That's going by first impressions already. The gorilla design actually looks menacing but Toriko doesn't seem to care. It was hilarious when he tried to intimidate the gorilla and definitely didn't expect him to smash the wall with a single punch.

Interesting how they go into the technical aspects of capturing beasts. Knocking.

"I only prey on these that I decided to eat, if I don't wanna eat it then I won't kill. And if I killed it, I will eat it." Curious to see if his own rule will bite him in the ass later down the series. He's eventually going to have to kill a beast in order to survive, even if he doesn't want to eat it.

Bruh.. the fruit of rainbow looked epic.

Pretty good arc, short and sweet. Hoping his trials become more difficult because he made it look effortless.

Oh man, you're in for a ride.
You think there's something that Toriko wouldn't eat?

    You'll learn soon enough.

    Puffer Whale Arc (Chapter 8-18)

I like this concept of full course menu. It's kinda like a resumé of the things you've accomplished.

Motherfucking Coco's full course menu and capture levels though.

Four heavenly kings is already pretty hype. I guess this means he's already a big deal. Really explains why he's so confident and nonchalant in the face of danger.

The puffer whale description is so detailed that it makes you hungry. The author does a great job at making the beasts worth the capture.

Coco's ability is dope. The rationale behind his ability to fortune tell isn't ass-pulled or too crazy. It's just right. Also the fact that he has 500 antibodies to poison is insane. Really digging his character so far.

"How long has it been since I had a real fight." Guessing this legendary devil serpent would be his real fight. Spoke too soon last arc.

    Coco and Toriko team work.

Gotta say, Coco had some quality lines so far and he's turning into one of my favorite characters and his chemistry with Toriko is both hilarious and endearing. True bros. Also seems like nail punch is his go-to move when he needs to win.

Knocking Master "Jirou". Kinda knew this old man would be relevant down the line. It's always the drunk old men in the manga becoming super relevant later in the story. Still impressive how he practically one shot the demon serpent. His full course menu didn't even reveal the capture level. Ultimate blue balling.

My boy Komatsu finally useful. Came through with the clean cut on the Puffer Whale.

Jesus. Something other-worldy just came out the the cave water. Made Coco and Toriko turn serious immediately. This is getting pretty hype I must say.

    Regal Mammoth Arc (Chapter 19-54)

Safe to say I'm hooked after finishing this arc. A lot of things went down like learning more about gourmet cells, the gourmet corp, introduction of Sani, Rin, Mansom, Battle Wolf, etc.

The aspect I'm loving the most about the series so far is the sense of adventure and landscapes. The regal mammoth's design was epic and the author deserves credit for making it look so menacing. The monster designs can be hit or miss, but it's well-done for the most part.

The characters also gel well together and have some hilarious chemistry. Sani is cool and all but Coco is still my favorite character at the moment. Toriko is already a given.

But the biggest highlight of this arc was the fights. To be honest, I didn't expect much in the fighting aspect of a food manga but man it delivers. I was a huge fan of how they handled the GT robot fights. Like Coco using the poison jam on the GT robot's wiring to effectively deal with it. Also, Staryjun is shaping up to be a monster villain in the future even though Toriko absolutely deleted the GT robot version after eating the jewel meat.

    Good shit so far.

Also, is the anime worth considering at all?

You are right, the fighting gets really bad later on.

The anime is alright, it just has no blood and gore.

+ few changes like a anime only character that makes you cringe everytime she appears.

nice, loki. Enjoy the first 100 chapters cuz they're the best. The action and the adventure doesn't really get worse, but i think part of the atmosphere fades away after a certain point.

and please tell us how Sani is the best character.

    Loki, don't open the spoiler.

It takes Jirou exactly two panels to piss on part 1. And that event is just one of many.

Then again, I feed on hype.
