    sport series preferences

For those of you that read sports mangas, do you prefer it to be as realistic as possible in the depiction of athletic ability and such or "spiced up" with some superhuman or other wise near impossible feats of skill/athleticism?

It entirely depends on the sport

It's the OG Tennis Giant though

the characters are like the only good thing to come out of that series

and cause you know it's already borderline superhuman

Realistic series are great, but I don't mind a little bit of ''spice'' in it. However, I didn't like series like Haikyuu and Kuroko no Basket, there was too much of it, especially in Kuroko. My favourites - Hajime no Ippo, One Outs, Ashita no Joe, Major, Chihayafuru. Martial arts are not included, there is too much of it.

So it's borderline superhuman to sent a player flying 20-30 meters up the stadium blocking a tennis ball? Kay.

Idk, I dropped Baby Steps when I realized it was going to be romance first tennis second...I defintely like PoT more even if I don't follow that "rotten" series anymore.

I definitely lean towards the realistic side of things concerning sports manga, but it DOES depend on the sport. Like ES21, it shows super powers like Devil Bat Ghost and the like but it's just pro moves with anime effects attached to it. It does make sense that pro-bound highschool athletes are head and shoulders above their peers when it comes to sports, so in a sense it's like they have super powers.

Meanwhile, Kuroko and Haikyuu were just eh to me. The basketball and volleyball applications in those manga were shallow, unlike Shoujos like Ahiru no Sora where the MC's secret weapon was the female jumper taught by his mom.
