Both are good characters but I think Tou has the better design overall.

How could Moubu hope to clash against this beast?

If you're going to campaign for Tou at least highlight something that makes sense.

Tou isn't holding a candle to Moubu in a contest of raw ferocity. It's like commenting that Kanki has a really intense stare when his opponent is Ousen.

The point I was trying to make is that Tou remains dignified even when reduced to that state. Meanwhile Moubu looks like a mess even when composed, although he's such a buffon that he's never really relaxed.

And about your second example, Kanki's stare made Shin draw while Ousen looks like he's badly constipated.

Are you just trying to troll in this tournament?

I really don't understand you hating on Moubu and Kanmei when you have Zenou in your avatar. Zenou is basically just Kanmei if he had chemotherapy and survived a lawnmower running over his face.

I figure I'll defend Moubu, since he's fallen behind quite a bit. Tou is a really unique and original design in the series, almost jarring in a way, while Moubu has the more traditional Chinese design going for him.

Moubu does have the most straightforward design of all the main Qin generals, but being straightforward is not the same as being bland or boring. It's the perfect representation for Moubu who is easily the most straightforward general of Qin, one of the most straightforward in China. He doesn't have any fancy helmets, masks, scars, or extremely unique design that appears rather jarring next to the rest of the cast. He gets through and feels like such a huge presence just from having such a solid base design with no over stylized or added features to try help carrying him. He's a man of no gimmicks or tricks and from head to toe Moubu looks like a true bonafide Great General from China, a man who inspires nothing but sheer hype as you see him rally his men or leading a charge into battle. His design does convey a huge sense of power and intimidating presence that falls perfectly in line with his character and what he represents.

Part of this comes from his huge stature, he's one of the only characters who can actually stand face to face with Ouki and look down on him, standing a full head taller. He's a larger than life figure and that conveys a constant presence of power, strength, and authority in every scene he's in, he gives off a constant air of being a Great General that carries the weight of Qin on his shoulders. You can have the more casual scenes with Tou like at the strategy room where he doesn't come across as an outstanding figure standing next to the cast, it actually came across as a shock to find out he was the super competent individual that he is, but Moubu always carries that air and vibe of such a powerful and indomitable figure on the field. When you see Moubu rally an army you can really believe that he's the type of figure that would be able to do so, it would be difficult to see other Qin generals including Tou being behind the army rallying them with the same authority and presence Moubu does, likely part of the reason he was put in a subservient role next to him at Kankoku Pass.

It's not just height either, Moubu has kind of become a measuring stick for the powerhouses of Kingdom. If Hara wants to show that a guy is truly a monster he may drop a line like "That guy is the same size as Moubu!" or "Impossible, he's even bigger than Moubu!" to show that they're the real deal. Yet Moubu manages to not lose any of his presence when sharing a scene with them, even managing to overshadow them in regards. You can really see this in the fight with Kanmei like the picture in the OP.

Moubu has something that sets him apart from the other big and strong dudes in the series. Moubu has fire to him, a wild ferocity and presence that the other guys lack. Kanmei is the biggest guy in the series and matched Moubu in power, yet he was never able to match the intensity that Moubu carries with him. Kanmei is a big dude with clean stylized hair and a large bombastic personality. He's incredibly powerful but even while tossing Moubu around he just comes off as a strong guy and not a true warrior. In a way it almost feels like he's been tamed, at least in comparison to Moubu.

Unlike the vast majority of the cast, Moubu doesn't have that slicked back and clean look. His hair is rugged, unkempt, and wild like a fire though not excessively it's something that separates him from everyone else in the series. The only notable figures who really share this feature are Kanki the vile bandit and Shin to show his lower class peasantry. For Moubu it helps create this image of an unruly and uncontrollable warrior, the one who terrorizes foes with the sheer carnage he can produce. When he retaliates against Kanmei and breaks his arm it doesn't just feel like a general in a fight, but as though Kanmei just made the mistake of awakening a beast that's about to tear him into pieces.

This doesn't just look like a general cutting a path through enemy soldiers, this looks like a demon rose up from hell itself to massacre anything that stands in its path. Faru faru weedwacker Tou doesn't carry this unstoppable presence with him when he hits the field. Seeing Moubu tear through armies like they're nothing more than tissue paper, he has the presence of a monster on the field, whenever he takes the stage and hits the field the only thought on the enemy mind is how to possibly contain the beast before them. It's this beastly design of that helps carry of that presence, there's few moments of him in action that he doesn't just exude raw strength from every orifice.

Yet he has more passive moments.

He's someone who comes off as a terrifying and unstoppable force in battle yet is also capable of hitting those moments of tranquility. Where the monster within him is subdued and lay beneath the surface and we see the man Moubu. That's the face of a Great General, the face of a leader, the face of a man full of ambition. He doesn't lose that intensity to him even during the calm, he manages to carry that air of unwavering resolve and determination, the presence of a general, wherever he is seen. Most of the generals stick to one emotion, Ousen never changes face, Kanki always has that smug and sinister outlook, and Tou generally always comes off as the same affable guy. Look at the range of expression you can get from Moubu in comparison, to go from calm and tranquil as a pond to the raging inferno he becomes during the action, he's one of the only characters who can hit off both extremes perfectly.

When you combine the two you get something downright menacing and chilling.

Moubu ultimately has a beastly design that represents everything about his character perfectly, all of the aspects of that define who Moubu is as a character are captured here and he manages to sell it despite not having any gimmicks or anything much else to work with other than his base design as a character. It's straightforward but made to work in the best possible ways and every aspect of it lends to who Moubu is.

I really like Tou's design, but he doesn't carry the same presence as a General and it doesn't do as well really representing who the character is and what he stands for. With Duke Hyou his sharp teeth show off a wild savage nature, with Ousen his mask gives off an incredibly enigmatic presence for a general shrouded in mystery, and Kanki has a sinister and wicked design that compliment his heinous and merciless nature. Tou... he just looks European for some reason, which is jarring and unique for a General of China, but doesn't seem to have much reason behind it.

Well well well. Who could've known that you could fire GP up by making fun of some overgrown men.

You shouldn't take me so seriously man, isn't the point of this tournament to have fun?

Moubu, Tou's design was better before Ouki's death.

I'm torn. Both have great designs, but I think I'm leaning a little closer to Tou. Whenever we see him, he's extremely visible on the battlefield, and his trademark grin gives him a look of little effort upon descent. But when he loses that grin? You know the curtain is about to drop for his foe.

    Going for the Tou.

Quiet, dignified and confident. Fitting for such an enigmatic character in the series. Mystery is truly his strongest point: both character and design wise. His history is unknown for the most part yet's hes adored by many. His design is simple yet polarizing at the same time as it stands out among the other characters in the series. The quiet gaze is penetrating and the hair is epic and feathery. And most importantly, this is the mustache of a winner.

Mobou is a fierce and epic competitor but he can't hold a candle to The Stache.
