That's 40 characters, we can either have all 40 or I'll just randomize and only the first 30 will be in the auctions (5 rounds of 6)

Auction will be the same as usual, open bidding with silent pming at the end of each round. Tell me your schedules so I can set silent bidding to begin. Every player has 150k base troops and has to choose their state before the game begins:

    Qin bonus:
Peasant militia draft- allows you to bolster your army with free peasant militia (they're weaker than regular soldiers though and cannot be mounted) with up to 50k of them or until you reach 200k men, whichever one comes first
Ryofui's haggling- get 20% of what you spend on each character back

    Wei bonus:
Pitched Battle- able to choose the side of the map they want (red or blue, attacking or defending)
Siege and chariot specialist- able to get siege weaponry and chariots for free (Wei ballistas and GHM siege towers, limit 20 and 2 respectively, 1k Wei chariots for free, you can buy more of each though)

    Zhao bonus:
ATV- all cavalry are not hindered by rough terrain (hills, cliffs, forest, etc)
Prep expert- all prep clauses will have soldiers work at double the pace without added fatigue (like for fortifications, setting traps, training etc.)

    Chu bonus:
Southern supremacy- heavy cavalry and heavy infantry move at the same speed as their regular counterparts
Biggest army in China- starts every battle with 25% more regular troops i.e. elites not counted nor eligible

    Yan bonus:
Mercenary state- elites cost 50% less
Big budget- your budget at the start of auction is 20% higher than the regular amount

    Qi bonus:
Stalling- you get an extra 3 days of prep per match for free
Negotiation- you can use 3 days worth of preparation days to remove 1 character bought with 30 points or less (limit two uses)

Elites are 1 point for 1k (unit commanders get their units for free) and you can buy generic fast cavalry/chariots (chariots will be 100 for 1 point) for the same price. Elites/units will add to your 150k base army unlike last time.

    Matches rules:

    Troops: 150k initial each
All of these guys are meeting for the first time, so no prior experience in dealing with a certain enemy i.e. Tou knowing Reiou likes to use pincers or Ouki fighting Houken.
In character: Characters are in character except when it severely compromises team synergy i.e. Houken wanting to challenge any strong general on his team. However, if it's their strategy/tactical quirk, like Ousen's refusal to straight up fight a competent opponent or Kanki not keeping his allies informed of his moves during battle, they keep it.
Synergy: Characters that have canon synergy/familiarity keep it, like Hakurei and Kouyoku or Kaine and Futei.
Elites: elites can do independent actions but they cannot be assigned to another character. You can have Karin's elites assist Bajio in an objective but he cannot lead them.
Knowledge: No knowledge since they are meeting for the first time
Prep is only allowed to happen in your initial deployment area i.e. no scouting or planning routes

    NEW strat rules:

    1) picture or description of your initial deployment (includes troop deployment spreads). New to the game is that you will have to draw lines or what not to show where each character (or how many you care to show) will/can go on the map to (in conjunction with your clauses) coordinate their actions.

    2) clauses (Each general gets one clause as their "must do" action, they are in character otherwise. To elaborate, I will consider any clause a high priority action that the character needs to do no matter what, that ignores their character. Like if you had a clause that said Ousen must duel Moubu, he will duel Moubu regardless of his personality. Only after the character accomplishes the feat will they revert back to their original character. Also, please keep clauses as one sentence: I will accept additional actions only if they are in the immediate vicinity, like "sweep up the area around the hill of enemies and then secure it for my forces" or "fortify the mountain and prep for a downhill charge if necessary". I will not accept things like "secure the mountain and then head to the forest (which is in a different area) to burn it" and run on sentences.)

New to this is that you will have to designate a Commander in Chief of your army, who will have up to 3 clauses. You can also have tow vice generals, who have up to 2 clauses. Everyone else gets only one.

    3) prep (everyone gets 2 days prep for each match for free, and 3 extra clauses for your overall army, like "arm all my soldiers with bows and spears. You could make it specific though, like "have Raido teach Gakuei's army the flame hare". Remember, your imagination is the limit but you also want your readers to believe you can do what ever you want to prep for, like you can't build catapults in two days with a bunch of meatheads.)

Special: only people who have had a burning feat can use fire tactics (Raido, Zenou, GHM, Kanki), this is to prevent abuse of fire.

Victory will be graded by objective: equal maps (no attacking/defending designation) will be voted on whether or not your CiC and/or vice(s) will fall before your opponent's. Maps with designations will be voted on according to the map, can you attack and seize the defender's territory and/or kill their CiC or can they hold you off?

state bonus looks messy tbh.. can you give it some space in between each state to make it easier to read? we'll probably copy paste it for next game, so it might be better to get it done now lol

kinda remember someone said that he's interested in this game last match auction phase, but who was it again?

btw have we seen basic ballista in the manga?

Ok, be sure to read the rules in the op because this is game is more like a small test run.

    Ugh, this seems hard.

What do I have to do after reading the rules?

    @Void;

    If I understood everything:
    1) Bid for characters(over a few days-weeks)
    2) When the teams are set we are shown a map and pit against an opponent
    3) In 2 days we need to come up with a strategy and send it to the moderator
    4) Moderator posts both strategies and people vote for the victor

    Anything else?

    that's the gist of it

you'll need to choose a state for your soldiers, the bonuses of each state is in the OP. Don't post it yet, I'm deciding whether or not you guys should pm them.

When do you plan for all of this to start? Just so I can manage my time.

maybe keep states secret until first matches unfold.

then they'll be public domain. So we see how it works in both cases.

i don't see how pm things will work with auction point bonus tbh...

although of course... you can pretty much let them know about Qin and Yan early (and by extension, the unknown will either be Zhao, Chu, Qi or Wei)

    - - - Updated - - -

anyway, what about the basic ballista question?

did we ever see them in the manga? I want to know if they're worth it or not lol

  16. #16
I guess I'll just have you guys say which state in thread

    @Void;

Did I get this right, there will be no general tactics this time, only drawing on the map?

there's no general strategy paragraph for this mini "game test". but you can write what the generals need to do in clauses

btw @Void;, with this type of structure, might as well change back clauses to indications?

instead of absolute action which generals must do (which most people seems to wing with team up with general X to kill Y and other out of character actions), I think it will be better to write the clauses back as "what general preferably should to do if X condition is met"?
