AmendmentsThe Millennium Lawbook
The Millennium Forums is a place intended to be orderly, just and, most of all, fun. In order to uphold all of these values, this lawbook has been created. From this moment on, the staff has agreed to abide by this lawbook and to hold all members to the standards of this lawbook. The staff recognizes that no man made system of law will ever be perfect, and so this lawbook is subject to change. Any and all changes will be documented here for all to see.
I. General Rules
All members of TMF are expected to adhere to these basic rules at all times.
A. Flaming: Flaming is defined as hostile interaction between two or more members. The staff will take action when it's discovered that one member is being repeatedly harassed by another member, if the flaming is heavily derailing a thread or if the flaming is deemed detrimental to the site in general. The staff will issue a warning if it reached that point and continued offenses will lead to a ban.
B. Multiple Accounts: No member may have multiple accounts unless given permission to do so by the staff. Any member breaking this law will be disciplined and have their dupe account either merged with their original or the dupe account will be deleted entirely.
C. Spoilers: Posting spoilers without first warning other members beforehand one way or another is strictly prohibited. You may warn other members by posting in spoiler tags, posting in designated spoiler threads or through other appropriate means. It is also required that you specify, either vaguely or in detail, what the spoiler is going to be about. If a member creates a thread, they reserve the right to ask not to be spoiled about a particular series etc and all members of the site would need to comply unless otherwise stated by the staff.
D. Spam: Posting spam outside of the designated spam section is prohibited and anyone doing so will be dealt with disciplinary action.
E. Pornographic or Highly Graphic Material: Such material is to be kept within the 18+ section and posting such material outside of said section will result in disciplinary action. Posting what can be considered pedophilic or necrophilic material, or anything of a similar category, will result in an immediate ban for a length to be determined by the staff. If the behavior persists and there is strong reason to suspect the individual ay actually be stimulated by such material, a permanent ban may be considered. If you notice such material being posted, within or outside of the 18+ section, please notify a staff member immediately. If you are unsure of whether or not something qualifies as pornographic or graphic, consult with the staff to make sure.
F. Signature Size: Signatures are not to exceed 500x500 pixels in size. Sections A and E apply to signatures as well.
All members are expected to follow certain guidelines when it comes to the reputation system. If you want to know more about the reputation system in general, go here.
A. Exploiting the Reputation System: Exploiting the reputation system is against the rules and anyone caught doing so will be dealt with disciplinary action. Examples of exploiting the reputation system include but are not limited to:
1. Revenge Negging: Negging someone solely because they negged you
2. Rep Circles: Colluding with one or more members to try and illegitimately gain rep.
3. Excessively Negging One Individual: Constantly negging one individual for no good reason.
Please also note that reputation betting is not currently allowed.
Punishments are given out based on a three strike system. a person with three infractions at any one time will be automatically banned for a period to be determined by the staff based on the severity of the offenses. Infractions that are expired do not count towards a person being banned and no non-expiring infractions will ever be given.
The staff reserves the right to bypass the three strike system and ban a person immediately for offenses such as but not limited to unauthorized duping and posting pornography and/or graphic images outside of the 18+ section intentionally.
IV. Staff Guidelines
This post is meant to outline the guidelines that the staff needs to operate by, so as to minimize mistakes on our part and to be as efficient as possible. If any of us have any doubt as to how we should handle things, we should first look here to see if we can find the answers that we seek.
As members of the staff, we are meant to set an example to the rest of the forum. It is, therefore, of extreme important that we act as ideally as possible. We should always be kind to members and refrain from flaming them. If we are debating with a member, we are required to do so calmly and fairly. Not adhering to this makes the staff, and therefore TMF itself, look bad. If one of us acts in a way unbecoming of a staff member, it is the job of the other members of the staff to remind them to act properly. Furthermore, since we have more responsibility than the normal member if we ever break any rules we will be punished more severely than a normal member would. A mod would be punished more than a normal member, a super mod more than a mod and an admin more than a super mod.
Members of a lower rank are expected to obey a higher ranked member of the staff within reason. Likewise, a higher ranked member is required to be reasonable when telling a lower ranked member what to do. If there are any disagreement, let the issue be ironed out as soon as possible so that both members may come to a mutual agreement before carrying out the task.
We must operate as if we were one body. A hand can only close because the fingers all cooperate. We must consult one another on all important matters until we come to an agreement that satisfies all, or most, parties. If someone is absent when consultation needs to take place, wait a reasonable amount of time and if they do not show up you should proceed without them. No one, not even an admin, may take matters into their own hands in anyway about a topic that is currently being discussing between the staff. You must wait until the staff reaches some sort of agreement, even if you are usually responsible for that specific thing.
An admin is going to have different jobs than a super mod and so on and so forth. Here we loosely specify the duties of each rank.
Admins - The job of the admin is to oversee the entire forum. The main responsibilities of the admin include overseeing all forums settings such as making people mods or contributors, giving prizes, changing usernames, adding plug-ins, managing the skins, managing smileys, managing usergroups, managing sections and anything else super mods do not have the power to do. The admin also has authority over all other members within reason. Naturally, the admin may also perform super mod and mod duties if the situation requires it.
Super Mod - Super mods mainly deal with the members of the forums itself. It is the responsibility of the super mod to make sure people in general are following the rules and to oversee all things that the members are participating in such as contests. The super mod is also responsible for the number of stickys in each section, what is stickyied and the overall organization of the sections. Naturally, the super mod may perform mod duties when required.
Mod - Mods have the same duties as super mods, but only within a specific section. They are required to make sure the rules in that section are being followed to the best of their ability and are also responsible for the organization of threads within that section.
