    Alice away from gastronomy

    What if Alice didn't take the science-y route that had her dedicating herself to gastronomy and took the "artisan" route like Souma instead? Would she be as good a chef as her science-y self? How much (like in percentage) of her current self would she be in terms of overall cooking competence?

    What if she balanced the two instead, kinda like a Kurokiba but split 50/50 with traditional skills and gastronomy methods?

    No don't think she would be better if she took the artisan route she would probably go down. With Gastronomy she had all the things available to her the best people to teach her. If she took the artisan route she wouldn't have had that right away.

    She would go up with she split it though.

    Her mom and dad have to be good chefs and not pure scientists though

    They are likely good chefs but great scientists look at what they are in charge of. Alice has all that knowledge she needs available to her being an artisan chef would definitely limit her early on considering her environment.

    Alice's mother was portrayed as highly as Gin or Senzaemon hence why she was one of the taste testers at the Autumn Election final. Great scientists or not, her experience as a chef is obviously one of the greatest in the series. The same probably goes for her husband.

    I think we would need more than that to say they are on Doujima's level in terms of being a chef.
    But even if they were the greatest chefs in the series, Alice would still benefit more by focusing gastronomy than being a Artisan Chef.

    She is the head of the Nakiri overseas department, that would out her on par with the other two in influence only.

    Every character is given their unique specialty. Don't see it changing anytime soon.
    Though, in your if scenario, I'd say she'd still be a great chef, maybe 80%?

    @Void;

    Why is it only in influence? Leonora was chosen to be the final judge for the Autumn Election. The same election that had past generational elite ten members and other judges with plenty of influence (e.g. curry sisters). It's heavily implied that she's on par with the top chefs in the series.

    I'm not saying she can't cook, but top tier like Doujima or Senzaemon? I doubt it.

    Those pages didn't prove anything about your claim though? If anything, Leonora (Research & Development) looks better than Gin (Tourism) based on title alone. And simply being the head of a facility requires an obvious extensive amount of culinary knowledge and abilities, something that even the past generational elite tens aren't capable of. Leonora is clearly on par with Gin and Sanzaemon, hence why she was chosen to be the final judge.

    It does, because it puts her on par with Gin's influence based on the rotating judge system (Senzaemon is an exception since he's the top of everything). Just because she was introduced last doesn't mean she was chosen last because they seemingly needed someone on par with who they already had.

    So you just gonna ignore the "research/development arm", "academic corporation that employs the latest in technology and scientific theory to drive new advancements in food science" and that guy's comment on "beauty and brains" and "what a wise and intelligent woman". There's no mention of skill or cooking ability.
