A vacation resort known as Westworld is a place where wealthy humans can go and relive the days of the Old West. Completely staffed by sophisticated robots, the humans can do whatever they want (and is usually nothing short of savage) while the robots must comply with their orders. At the end of each day the robot's memories are erased and they are sent back to do it all over again. However, it looks like something is changing in their programming and making them start to remember things from previous days and even previous roles, making them start to act out. Notably one robotic girl is starting to "wake up" and "act out" as a focus for the robots, while a human is trying to get to the deepest part of the "game" by scalping and strong-arming the robots. Anthony Hopkins plays the original designer and owner of Westworld, who might be behind this either intentionally or accidentally.
So far, it's not bad. A bit slow, but I can see where this will really pick up. As a big fan of the original Westworld (originally written by Michael Crichton, and very well may have been a warm up for Jurassic Park), I was thrilled to see this made. Some of it can be a bit repetitive, but all in all I'm going to keep watching for a while.
Anybody else watching this?
