    Westworld

    Premise:

A vacation resort known as Westworld is a place where wealthy humans can go and relive the days of the Old West. Completely staffed by sophisticated robots, the humans can do whatever they want (and is usually nothing short of savage) while the robots must comply with their orders. At the end of each day the robot's memories are erased and they are sent back to do it all over again. However, it looks like something is changing in their programming and making them start to remember things from previous days and even previous roles, making them start to act out. Notably one robotic girl is starting to "wake up" and "act out" as a focus for the robots, while a human is trying to get to the deepest part of the "game" by scalping and strong-arming the robots. Anthony Hopkins plays the original designer and owner of Westworld, who might be behind this either intentionally or accidentally.

    My thoughts:

So far, it's not bad. A bit slow, but I can see where this will really pick up. As a big fan of the original Westworld (originally written by Michael Crichton, and very well may have been a warm up for Jurassic Park), I was thrilled to see this made. Some of it can be a bit repetitive, but all in all I'm going to keep watching for a while.

    Anybody else watching this?

My parents thought very highly of the pilot episode, so I guess I'll check this out soon.

this is great, good to see people here showing interest in this awesome show

in terms of depth it has the edge on most series out there right now

there's a couple of things that hooked me up, but what intrigues me the most so far is the ''Man in Black'' and what he's hoping to accomplish by getting to the deepest layer of the game -- one thing I found particularly interesting while he was on his quest to solving that maze last episode is that after the little mexican girl gave him a clue where to find it, she also said it wasn't meant for him, which then begs the question... who is it meant for? I can't wait for him to get there and see how it all plays out

the preview for next episode looks pretty sick too

Did you ever see the movie? I have a feeling about what may be coming but I don't want to say it unless you've seen the movie.

yep I've seen Crichton's version, I think the show might be going in a slightly different direction tho, as to not make it predictable

I think it's going to take from the first and second movies, and the gunslinger is going to try and become one of the robots so he will "never leave again."

Damn. I don't think my spoiler tag worked.

ok so that's what happens at the end of Futureworld, then

    started it last night actually

yea that is more in line with what I was thinking about what his actual goal is, and especially why he'd want that

    @Makenzye;

nah it's all good Maky, the first movie's much better anyways, I was impressed when I found out Crichton directed it within 30 days lol

I was watching the sequel just for the sake of having a thorough grasp on the lore

You get the feeling it was proto-Jurassic Park?

His game designer equivalent would be the guy who made all those Five Nights at Freddy's.

ditto, from the looks of it the Man in Black's gonna fuck shit up again

and seems like we're getting a little battle of wits between Ford and someone else next episode

Damn they're moving fast on this stuff, and I'm loving it.

The owner might just be the real bad guy in all of this.

And the mystery of the lost owner.

Sorry but the premise sound straight out of a bad animated porno

yeah was a nice surprise considering how they've sparsely gone about delivering clues and infos in previous eps

so the man in black is a philanthropist irl

gives some more legs to theories of him being an older version of William

that scene Ford had with the Delos representative was probably my favorite part of the episode, I can't wait until his new narrative fully unravels

The only problem with the future Billy idea is we've seen the control room deal with the Gunman, and it's the same crew we've seen dealing with the acting out of the robots during current Billy's stay. I would say that Delores also remembering the Man in Black was the same Delores since she ran into the current Billy while still carrying the gun.
