    whoever has ideas for a map, feel absolutely and utterly free to post a blueprint of it in this thread. Handiwork, ms paint, wall graffiti, anything goes as long as you manage to put down on paper the map you want to make as you're imagining it.

    then me, void or gnx will handle the actual development with the aoe engine.

    as an example, gp made a few blueprints for cyk6, below you'll see what he made and how the maps turned out - not without a few personal touches:








    remember to attach a description with your blueprint in order to remove all kinds of ambiguities about your map.

    I thought the map me and Zentos faced off in was good, as well as the gorge one at the time. also the map you and gp faced off in

    no go while my pc is down I'm afraid

    I do have an idea to propose:



    that will be the very basic skeleton of the map. my idea is a mountainesque island in the middle surrounded by water on all sides. the water around the island is fed by four rivers which drain north, south, west, and east down the middle of the mao, basically dividing the map into four quadrants outside of the center mountain island. there will be big shallows connecting each quadrant together so players can move between quadrants easily but four bridges will lead to the mountain island from each quadrant so movement from quadrant to island is a bit more restricted. of course, each quadrant will have different types of terrain (forest, hilly, full of lakes, swampy, etc.) and each player will split their teams into two starting points.

    also another idea with a basic skeleton is this:



    top half will be a huge symmetrical castle with equal but maze-ish like access (with various wooden gates at "checkpoints") for both players. middle portion (the horizontal section right outside the castle between player blue A and player red B points) will be largely a plain but with random little hilly bumps, wooden palisades, trees, and mini cliff areas all over the place to blunt full force charges so players don't rush each other easily. last portion of the map which is at the bottom will be a water area with random islands connected by bridges so players can use that area as a flank attempt for smallish armies.
