Didn't really play any RPGs on the PS1. Fallout 3 was my first RPG that I really put a lot of time into.

If there are any fans of the Elder Scrolls/newer Fallout games around, do you know of any games that are similar to those? And by similar I mean very similar - first-person is a must, at least a relatively open world, heavy on exploration and atmosphere. I haven't looked into the matter, but if anyone has any good recs I'd like to hear 'em. PS3 by the way.

The only one that comes to mind is Borderlands. Not a fan of it, but I know a lot of others who rate the game highly. The general surrounding somewhat resembles fallout, and it is very open area, but it falls down on lack of character interaction. On the flip side, the action is more fast paced and there is a lot more quests, but they borderline on repetitive. The game just had a bad feel to it, but I know a lot of others who would argue otherwise though.

Dragon Age isn't FP, but I'd say you should give it a try.

If you have a decent pc, try out Darkfall. It's a first person sandbox mmorpg. Basically like Skyrim and Oblivion but hundred times more enjoyable. You can't fully experience the wonder of a Sandbox game in a single player game.

My laptop is unfortunately incapable of running any newer-ish games worth their salt. It slows to a crawl on some parts of emulated SNES games. If I ever get a better one, I'll definitely start RPG hunting

Borderlands sounds like it's pretty action-oriented. I'm not necessarily looking for a game that emphasizes the shooter aspects, let alone in vehicles, but I do find the combat in Fallout 3/NV quite enjoyable so if it's basically that but better it might still be worth looking into. Especially since it's dirt cheap.

I've heard good things about Dragon Age. Third person isn't really my cup of tea (an acclaimed and beautiful game like RDD I find hard to play just because of it, it just feels sluggish) but I do love fantasy, so if it's cheap enough that'll be on my look-up list as well.

    Thanks for the recs.

Gad, if you have a PS2, get the Ratchet and Clank series. At least get the third one called Up Your Arsenal. It's an action platform shooter with RPG elements such as leveling up and is very similar to a FPS and you even have the option of playing in first-person.

I'd say without their captains the Whitebeards would be slightly stronger than the Red-Hairs and with their captains they'd be significantly stronger.

It's pretty obvious no Emperor was a real threat to Whitebeard. He just had too much power and influence.

Raigou apparently can't even destroy an island, which Whitebeard can do easily.

Obviously it was because of Whitebeard, but the crew even without the captain is still highly exceptional. If you take away the captains, the Whitebeard's would beat any Emperor crew decisively.

Get Star Wars KOTOR just in case you're of the mega minority who hasn't played it. I'm going through another playthrough now and I'm realizing why I love this god damned game
