Monster is the "smartest" manga I've ever read, definitely recommend it.

No. But 'Eternal Sabbath' is shaping out to be a good manga to place on the same tier as 'Monster'. Obviously, it just isn't that good. Monster was an epic. But it's pretty close. Very close.

Ok I read the first ten chapters of Akumetsu. It's not really a bad read at all, not something I'll read through in a few days though.

    BTW I recommend:
Eyeshield 21, Slam Dunk (nearly everyone has read it already anyway) and Kuroko no basket for sports manga.
Beelzebub is probably the best manga currently in Shounen Jump except for One Piece and maybe Toriko, read it.
Fairy Tail is a little too underestimated aswell, it's made out as shit, but it has quite a lot of good moments and it's really fast paced.

Akira is great, it basically revolutionized the sci-fi genre of manga in its entirety.

Veritas is ok in my eyes, as a battle manga it may be standard but it doesn't really do anything "wrong" IMO.
i liked the comedic moments, and some of the fights were cool.
i also enjoyed the "holy shit" twist.
where the whole school gets killed off and one of the main guys has to commit suicide to protect the others.

personally, i'm anticipating when the author eventually puts out part 2 (unless i've missed it somewhere)

and yes, Akira is awesome. one of my best birthdays ever was getting all 6 volumes. i've re-read them a lot of times.
i enjoyed the anime movie, but i feel like they could've done so much more with the material.

Man, I completely forgot Veritas even existed. Should probably skin through that.
    No.
