Why wouldn't he let him win? If he killed Jon then they'd just kill him. Right before they fought, Qhorin told him to join the Wildlings. He had to have held back so that Jon could be in good shape once he was with the Wildlings. It would make escaping a lot easier.

He doesn't go toe to toe with him.

And then Qhorin's sword was coming at him and somehow Longclaw leapt upward to block. The force of impact almost knocked the bastard blade from Jon's hand, and sent him staggering backward. You must not balk, whatever is asked of you. He shifted to a two-hand grip, quick enough to deliver a stroke of his own, but the big ranger brushed it aside with contemptuous ease. Back and forth they went, black cloaks swirling, the youth's quickness against the savage strength of Qhorin's left-hand cuts. The Halfhand's longsword seemed to be everywhere at once, raining down from one side and then the other, driving him where he would, keeping him off balance. Already he could feel his arms growing numb.

It sounds as if Jon is defending while Qhorin is attacking him.

when Ghost's teeth closed savagely around the ranger's calf, somehow Qhorin kept his feet. But in that instant, as he twisted, the opening was there. Jon planted and pivoted. The ranger was leaning away, and for an instant it seemed that Jon's slash had not touched him. Then a string of red tears appeared across the big man's throat, bright as a ruby necklace, and the blood gushed out of him, and Qhorin Halfhand fell.
    im corrected

I dont really know whether mance and qhorin are similar though and jon is above average but not superb. B tier for mance, jon and perhaps higher for qhorin

    I know but didn't I said that ...

    I

Haven't started looking for the quote,I know for sure it appears much later though. Not even sure its in the same book but im fully convinced JON says it.

Page 978 - Got the big books in the hardcover format. - The orders ...

Qhorin tells Jon to capitulate in case he's captured and that he's still gonna remain a nightwatcher.

Im looking for it.Right now im reading the fight. To me it just looks like Jon Snow was nothing but fodder to Qhorin oh and in a point during the fight Jon says to himself " You must not resist no matter what they're asking you - he was reffering to the orders of the nightwatchers "

    The fight is done.Qhorin fell.

He knew their thinking says Jon (*numb). He knew what they're gonna ask me.Done with book two.Next ...

    Book 3

First Jon chapter " I'll watch,I'll hear and I'll learn and than I'll come with a story to the wall "

In his hearth he was still a nightwatcher, carrying out the mission Qhorin Halfhand entrusted to him before I kill him said Jon.

Whenever i'll find the quote of Jon I'll post it here.Got to page 418 of Book 3 for now.

Now that im done with all 5 books I feel like asking u guys why Prime Jaime wouldn't be at the very least a god tier ? Being in shit shape he said he's strong enough to take on 8 stark knights by himself.Old Barristan said a true knight should be able to take 10 knights at once.

I definetly believe that Jaime in his prime would accomplish such feat with ease.

I see Arthur Dayne being mentioned as a god tier. Why not Jaime ? The author clearly mentioned that Jaime could take him down with enough skill and speed.I think Prime Jaime is the strongest fighter to ever lived just that he had shit luck. Not having accomplishments as amazing as Barristan doesn't make him a lower fighter class aswel.I don't understand why people downplay him. He's the greatest.

Where was that stated? Jamie is unquestionably a top 5 fighter of all time.

So Brienne without a doing would lose to two handed Jaime?

Brienne would definitely lose to Jaime. A manacled, rusty and in poor general condition Jaime gave her a lot of trouble already.

But trouble when she was ordered to not kill him, and any brute Force attempt would end up in severely wounding him with no medic around?
