I always look at orientation revealing in the same vein as the reason you needed to know any character has romantic inclinations.

I can understand your feelings on it, but to be fair a lot of our society sorta helped form up Star Wars. Particularly religious ones and specifically the Vietnam War. It's just harder for us to see since I wouldn't be born for 8 years after it came out and by the time I could watch it society would be waaaay different on the religious and war fronts.

Honestly I found the whole everybody ignoring Luke and Leia making out then ending up as siblings as way more distracting in the movies than anything else.

Disney wants something clean, and wiping things away tends to work best.

Tbh I was sort of happy Disney just dislodged the EU since that kept a lot of the more rabid battledome fans a little further away where I like them. lol

The new films, barring the side story ones, I've enjoyed quite a bit. Rogue One I liked a lot but I could feel the choppiness of the studio in it.
